Teen Art Therapy for Wellbeing

This 7-week Art Therapy for Wellbeing Course is designed for individuals 14 - 18 seeking creative ways to nurture their well-being through art therapy creative processes and artistic expressions. Art Therapy offers an opportunity for individuals to explore their thoughts and emotions in a non-harmful way, especially those who struggle to express themselves verbally.

In the Art Therapy for Wellbeing Course, participants will interact with mediums such as drawing, painting, mixed media, collage, sculpture, and movement to:

·       Safely and confidently express their thoughts and emotions.

  • Develop awareness of sensations and responses in their body and learn to manage them using body-based techniques such as mindful breathing, and body scan.
  • Regulate their emotions by engaging in creative processes.
  • Communicate through artistic expressions
  • Build safe and meaningful relationships with themselves and others.
  • Connect with others respectfully.

    Build trust within the group and explore personal boundaries to create a supportive, safe environment.
  • Present-Moment Awareness
    Cultivate mindful engagement with art materials to connect with the here and now.
  • Enhancing Self-Awareness and Expression
    Explore and integrate a variety of art materials to deepen self-expression and self-discovery.
  • Body-Mind Integration
    Use gestures and expressive movements to promote non-judgmental body awareness and explore non-verbal communication.
  • Symbolic Object Creation
    Create a symbolic object that bridges the inner and outer self.
  • Group Canvas Project
    Improve interpersonal relationship skills by collaborating on collective art pieces.
  • Self-Care Through Art
    Learn creative strategies for self-care and nurture your overall well-being.
  • Emotional Awareness and Reflection
    Increase sensory and kinaesthetic processing for greater emotional awareness and reflect/share your experience.

Please bring a notepad, pen, an open mind, and a kind heart.

About the tutor:

Stephanie Jusruth is an art therapist and the founder of Cahaya Expressive Arts Therapy. She is passionate about working with adolescents and young adults, leading weekly sessions with small groups to address challenges such as self-esteem, anxiety, and relationship dynamics.

Her strength-based approach emphasizes empowerment, playfulness, creative self-expression, and meaning-making through the arts. Deeply inspired by the intersection of culture, spirituality, and community, Stephanie integrates body-based interventions and expressive arts to promote wholeness, well-being, and authentic self-expression.
