Barista Basics

This short course includes technical barista skills training (3.5 hours, non-accredited) and learning to work to organisational standards, managing workload and working as part of a team.

What you will learn:

- Practical barista skills

- Working effectively in a business environment:

  • Organisational and legal responsibilities and requirements
  • Working in a team:
    • Safe work environments
    • Communication and collaboration
    • Completing allocated tasks according to organisational requirements
    • Seeking clarification and assistance when required
  • Develop effective work habits:
    • Prioritising
    • Time management
    • Communicating workload issues
    • Seek and act upon feedback

Students choosing to be assessed will receive a Statement of Attainment in BSBOPS201 Work effectively in business environments, upon successful completion.

Day 1: Theory at HKCC

Day 2: Practice at Witham's Coffee

Day 3: Theory and Assessments at HKCC

Day 4: Theory and Assessments at HKCC

Assessments are made against units of competency from the Certificate II in Workplace Skills BSB20120.

*This training attracts full NSW Government funding under the Adult Community Education (ACE) and Targeted Skills for Small Business (TSB) Programs, if you meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Are an AUS citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder, or a NZ citizen
• 15 years or older
• Live or work in NSW
• No longer at school or equivalent

AND (ONE of the following for ACE)

• Have very low literacy, language and/or numeracy skills, or
• Have limited employability skills where you require considerable additional support, or
• Have persistent and ongoing personal issues impacting on educational achievements, or
• Have a significant educational disadvantage impacting a student's ability to succeed in training

OR (for TSB)
• An owner or employee of a small business**

**A small business is defined as: 20 employees or less or an annual turnover of less than $2,000,000
